This makes intuitive sense, as you would have the same issue, manually, if you tried to take an Xacto knife and cut through a thick material all at once, rather than slowly cutting through it via multiple passes.

When the Kraft Blade cuts things like balsa wood or thick leather at full depth in a single pass, it almost always will cause the blade housing to get jammed as it catches on the material. Currently, one could mimic this behavior by adding duplicate lines and creating a different setting for each pass, with a pause added in between to adjust the blade length.

This should be available soon.Īdditionally, the software team is exploring a solution for thicker materials that would have the Kraft Blade cut the material in a series of passes that progressively have the blade go deeper and with greater force, using the aforementioned new firmware feature. This is being resolved by the Silhouette software team at the moment.Ī new experimental firmware is being tested with the Cameo 4 (not yet available to the general public) which would allow the software to raise the height at which the tool holder of the Cameo hovers over the material when it jumps over to the loops, and then lower it back down when doing actual cutting. Most notably, the smart tangential cut lines which are added (those little arcs you see which are used to pivot the blade when it encounters a sharp corner) are causing issues, because the blade is only supposed to lightly touch the material and pivot using those arcs, but currently it is hitting those arcs too deeply, getting caught, and ruining the cut. There are still some issues in the software. I would recommend trying to cut using a regular cut action, rather than the "Kraft Cut" action.īasically, here's the current state of the Kraft Blade: How do you select just one tool to cut with, and what steps do you take? Thank you all!!! If anybody out there can shed some light on exactly what I'm doing wrong, as verbosely as possible, because I can't find any documentation on this even though this hardware has been out for months, I would so very much appreciate it. So I sent it to the cameo, and lo and behold, it STILL cut those weird lines all over the design, even though they don't show on the preview.Īll this to say.there is very likely something I'm missing and haven't set right. Even though this isn't the tool I want to use, I thought I'd try. So then I put in the rotary blade, and the weird lines went away. There's no way to get rid of them, and they show up whenever the kraft blade is selected!? They aren't part of the original design, and can't be deleted when going back to Design, because they just aren't there? But when I sent the design to the Cameo, it definitely cut where those lines are. It seemed to work better, allowing me to select only tool 2 and cut with only that tool, however, if you look at the attached picture, it creates some really weird designs in the print preview.

So did some sleuthing and found a tutorial that said to do the "Line" section, and select the tool numbers this way.

There is no option to cut at 0 depth, it definitely wants to cut. So I tested it, and putting in the autoblade, I HAVE to select something to cut. It wouldn't allow me to send to the Cameo with nothing selected in that slot, but I don't want to cut anything with the autoblade. However, when I sent it to my Cameo 4, it said there was no action associated with tool 1, which I had empty. Seeing as how I wanted to just use the kraft blade, that was fine. I created some simple shapes, clicked the Send tab, which took me to the "Simple" portion. So I want to cut something using the kraft blade, I was just testing on a scrap piece of leather I had.

This is going to be wordy, so thanks in advance for reading and for your help! I've checked as of today and have the most up to date version of the software.

I'm at my wit's end I've read and watched every video and tutorial I have come across and can't figure out for the life of me how to get this to work.
